The Italian version constitutes the only official and legally binding version of the document. The English-language version of this document is provided solely as a courtesy to facilitate consultation by users. In the event of any discrepancies, interpretive differences, or inconsistencies between the Italian-language version and any translated version, the Italian text alone shall prevail and be deemed authoritative.

Authenticating citizens with certainty

The functions institutions can use to authenticate citizens with certainty with IO are:

Function	Description	Available
Strong authentication with SPID (Public Digital Identity System) or CIE (Electronic Identity Card)	Italian citizens and people resident in Italy with SPID or CIE can access their digital identity	✅
Quick access	Access with SPID or CIE will only be necessary in app once a year: then the identity will be validated by means of biometric recognition and cryptographic mechanisms	✅
